Softimage Games Incubator Program - Working with you to kick start your games business!

You’ve got a great idea for a game. You’re setting up a new company and need the best games pipeline up and running as soon as possible. We’re here to help bring your vision to life!

The Softimage Games Incubator Program, in conjunction with Develop Magazine, gives you access to Softimage software for a 3 year period with no payments in the first year.  This allows you to keep your start up funds focused on producing your game – not your tools. Invest in the best talent and start creating, instead of worrying about paying for software to start up.

“The Incubator program is interesting as it provides an incentive for independent and first–time game developers to run with their ideas and start up their own businesses. We look forward to working with Softimage on this pilot project and tracking the progress of the selected candidates as they progress through the travails of a startup.” Michael French, Editor of Develop and Executive Editor of CasualGaming.biz

How does it work?

We take the normal total cost of ownership for a 3 year period (purchase prices of XSI + 3 years of maintenance), apply a residual value discount (this is the amount at the end of the 3 year term you would need to pay to make the licenses ‘permanent’) and divide the payments over the 3 year term (12 quarters).  Now for the interesting part – we defer the payments in year one and blend them across your year two and three payments.

What happens at the end of 3 years?

You can either pay out the residual value discount and have a permanent license or renew the incubator program and lease the software.

What if I’ve never used XSI?

Don’t worry – XSI is a snap to learn and comes with 6 hours of training in the box. There are also specialized courses for 3D artists transitioning from 3DS Max and Maya, and hundreds of training material and forums online for learning XSI. It takes a proficient 3D artist about 3 days to learn the basics of XSI and about 2 weeks to become fully proficient and loving the functionality of XSI. More information about XSI

What if my business fails?

Don’t worry – we believe in you and we'll help you get up and running. If for some reason your business can’t get off the ground, there is no penalty.

What if I need more seats?

No problem – while the incubator program is designed for the needs of the cash strapped start-up, Softimage has the most flexible purchase and leasing programs in the industry – talk to us, we’ll find the right program to meet your business needs.

What are the requirements?

  • You must be a start up business (meaning you have registered your business, or in the process of doing so)
  • Your business must not have shipped a title yet
  • Your business must be based in Europe (for the pilot program only)

This pilot program is currently being tested and not everyone will be accepted for the incubator program.
